Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Pay Administration for Federal Human Resource Specialists
This session typically covers one and one-half days. It is aimed at those who are responsible for making decisions about which work is covered by and which work is exempt from coverage by the FLSA, and for those who advise managers on what kinds of work assignments qualify for FLSA overtime pay.  It covers the latest regulations, government-wide guidance, and recent court decisions related to the various topics.  The session also covers practical exercises that will help to clarify how the regulations and guidance are to be applied in typical situations the specialist will face in his or her daily assignments.  This session can be extended one-half day to discuss particular positions that are causing questions or concerns at your agency. 

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) – Practical Advice for the Federal Manager
A one-half day session designed to assist managers in responding to employees’ questions about the FLSA and in planning work assignments.  The session briefly touches on which positions are covered by and which are exempt from coverage by the FLSA. More time is spent on when hours qualify as overtime under the FLSA especially time spent on travel and in training. The rates at which FLSA overtime pay is paid is discussed.  Finally, it goes over where and when an employee can file a claim if she or he believes additional FLSA overtime pay is due.

Federal Employees Pay Act (FEPA) Premium Pay Administration for Federal Human Resource Specialists
This session typically takes one and one-half days. It is aimed at those who are responsible for advising managers on what kinds of work assignments qualify for FEPA or Title 5 premium and/or overtime pay.  The material contains the latest regulations, government-wide guidance, and recent court decisions related to the various topics.  The session also covers practical exercises that will help to clarify how the regulations and guidance are to be applied in typical situations the specialist will face on a day to day basis.

Federal Employees Pay Act (FEPA) – Practical Advice for the Federal Manager
A one-half day session designed to assist managers to understand the premium and overtime pay programs under FEPA.  It discusses the various forms of premium pay, including Sunday, holiday and night differentials, as well as overtime and annual premium pay for standby, administratively uncontrollable overtime, and availability. It covers the requirements that must be met in order to receive the various types of pay, and it also discusses the rates at which the various premium pays are paid. The material can focus on specific areas of interest to the managers attending the session or it can serve as a general survey of the types of premium pay available for use by managers in accomplishing work.
